Scotland has been named recently by the readers of one of the most popular guidebook series called Rough Guides—most beautiful country in the world!

With its deep, dark lochs (lakes), Scottish lore, ancient castles, mysterious ruins and spectacular natural beauty—there is so much Scotland has to offer!

The PebbleCreek Irish American Club is sponsoring a very special tour September 29 through October 11, 2018 called “Scottish Isles and Glens.” All residents of PebbleCreek are invited to think about joining fellow Creekers on this 13-day/12-night tour. A special discounted price of $2,659 per person for PCIAC members and $2709 for non-members, reflects hundreds of dollars off the brochure price. Airfare is additional. There will be between 36 and 40 people in this group tour operated by the well-known and respected CIE organization headquartered in Ireland. CIE is providing a professional tour-guide for the entire time you are traveling through the highlands and islands of beautiful Scotland.

The itinerary includes the two major cities of Scotland, Glasgow and Edinburgh. These two cities are the “bookends” for the tour at the start and at the end. An extra day has been added for independent exploration of the sights of Edinburgh. You won’t want to miss walking by elegant mansions of the 200-year-old Georgian New Town and continue along a section of the Royal Mile, which is the oldest part of the city where some houses reach 11 stories in height.

Most of the tour is spent out in the spectacular Highlands of Scotland and visiting a number of Isles including Skye, Bute and several of the isles of Orkney in the far north. Rugged beauty abounds in these remote parts of Scotland not often seen by Scotland tourists. Of special interest will be visiting the 5,000 year old village of Skara Brae, where remains of the buildings are still visible. In the main town of the Orkneys, called Kirkwall, you will see the 12th century St. Magnus Cathedral.

Back on the mainland, the tour will continue into the Highlands for a visit to Dunrobin Castle, dating to 1275 but renovated in the mid-1800s. With its 189 rooms, Dunrobin is the largest mansion in northern Scotland. Your guide will show you some of the many priceless artifacts inside, including what is in the Library, Dining Room and Music Room. The gardens here create the frosting on the cake. Overnight this day in the picturesque small city of Inverness, the principal town of the Highlands area.

There will be a special Tour Presentation in the Chianti Room of the Tuscany Falls Clubhouse, starting at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 24. Come to learn more about the tour!
