Rug Hookers of PebbleCreek host Third Hook-In

Dee-Dee Patrick

On Saturday, March 3 the Rug Hookers of PC hosted our third annual “hook-in” with some 60 attendees. Two ladies drove from California to attend our event! The Eagle’s Nest Ballroom was transformed into a “Hooker’s Paradise.” Vendors marketed everything from wool to all kinds of accessories to make our craft more fun and individualized. A silent auction with over 55 donated items filled two long tables and the front of the stage. The selection was by no means limited to hooking but included some cross-stitch items, a hand-knitted throw and hand appliqued and beaded pillow. A percentage of the money generated by these sales will be donated to Kare Bears here in PebbleCreek.

Attendees were provided a continental breakfast and a light lunch provided by catering here at PC. During the day there were door prize drawings that included bundles of assorted wool to the lucky winners. In addition, everyone left with a personalized hand-made name tag, a complimentary gift of goodies to survive the Valley winter, i.e., facial tissues, liquid hand cleaner, chocolate and beaded chains to attach to necessary craft scissors. Even the centerpieces (hand crafted fabric bowls) on each table were given to all attendees. Creative members of our club thought up and contributed these “freebies.”

The day sped by quickly and we have reason to believe that all who participated in our Hook-In left with not only additional treasures but new friendships and ideas. We have reason to believe that the Hook-In was a success as there was a sigh heard across the room when June Bennett, the lead of our extravaganza announced that we would be taking a hiatus in 2019. The next scheduled PebbleCreek Hook-In will be held in the Spring of 2020. This allows our members additional time to come up with innovative and exciting ideas!

Come and interact with our energetic and creative group members. The Rug Hookers meet every Monday afternoon from noon to 4:00 p.m. in the Fiber Arts (Diamondback) Room in the Creative Arts Center.
