Starting from Clubhouse Drive on Feb. 22, 10 members of the Rovin’ Pebbles RV Club caravanned to Las Vegas to enjoy time together. The trip was planned and led by Wagon Masters Len and Julie Magsamen. For some new members, this rally was their first travel experience with the club. For others, it was their first RV trip, period. One rig takes the lead, and the tail gunner takes the last position to assure the group is staying within walkie-talkie range of the leader. Typically, the non-driver handles the communication. The caravan stopped outside of Kingman for a scheduled rest and arrived two hours later at the Oasis RV Resort on the south end of the Las Vegas strip.

After setting up camp, the group enjoyed happy hour to get to know each other and enjoy adult beverages and hors-d’oeuvres. Everyone quickly bonded after their first day of travel.

On Tuesday, the group relaxed at the Oasis RV Resort and prepared for the traditional potluck dinner that evening. Starting (again) with happy hour, the veritable feast consisted of pulled pork, chicken wings, coleslaw, potatoes, chocolate cream pie, and bread pudding. Closing out the evening, stories were told around the campfire circle. Many wanted to know more about the club’s history and past caravans. Long-time members Barb and Bill Van Trump and Wagon Masters Magsamens shared some of their past travel experiences in North America with the members.

On Wednesday, the cold and windy day started with a wagon master breakfast. We gathered in one rig for hot waffles with blueberries, strawberries, and whipped cream. Of course, there were also custom-loaded adult beverages, courtesy of Deni Byrne.

After breakfast, the Benner/Kephart foursome enjoyed a fun round of golf at Rhodes Ranch Golf Club. When evening came, campers got together for happy hour before departing for a wonderful Italian dinner at Capo’s, a speakeasy-themed restaurant nearby where we enjoyed great food and a live piano bar crooner.

On Thursday, campers held a golf tournament and scored not one, but three, hole-in-ones. Nancy Shaw-Kephart, the first golfer up on hole number one, stepped up and with a mighty and smooth swing, drove her ball down the middle and straight into the cup. Deni Byrne and Len Magsamen also experienced the thrill of sinking aces during the round. So what if it was on the resort’s putt-putt course?

Friday came too soon, and the Rovin’ Pebbles said their goodbyes, broke camp, and made their way back to PebbleCreek with plenty of smiles, new friends, and fond memories.
