Rovin’ Pebbles on the road again

Lana Raptoplous

The PebbleCreek Rovin’ Pebbles RV Club hit the road in February for Usery Mountain Regional Park in Mesa, Arizona. Even though Mesa isn’t that far away, Usery Mountain Regional Park is outside of town and very beautiful, sitting at the foot of the Usery Mountain range. Fifteen rigs (thirty people) were on this trip.

The first night was the traditional potluck dinner with a twist. Grill-master Chris Raptoplous grilled hamburgers for everyone. Some claimed it was the best burger they ever had. In spite of the wind, dinner was followed by a fireside chat. The following day it rained a little, but it cleared up enough for everyone to enjoy a ride on the Dolly Steamboat out on Canyon Lake. Afterward the group went to Tortilla Flats for dinner, and an ice cream social around the campfire that evening.

Valentine’s Day started with a waffle breakfast. Mike Kramer manned the waffle maker making an assortment of waffles to order. Chris Raptoplous cooked up the bacon and was cooking eggs to order. After a yummy breakfast, the group had a presentation by Ranger B about Usery Mountain Regional Park, the surroundings, plant life and animals. The rain came again and everyone scurried inside. The evening’s activities included a trip to Barleen’s, a family owned and run dinner theatre. Everyone agreed that the food was good and it was a very entertaining show.

The Rovin’ Pebbles meet the first Wednesday of every month at 3:00 p.m. in the Eagle’s Nest Ballroom. If you own an RV, trailer, camper or have been thinking about owning one, come join us and learn more about our club.
