What do you want for Christmas?

William Steffan

As the holiday season approaches, most parents and grandparents dread to hear that question from their loved ones. Bill Steffan would like to suggest a book that will make Christmas morning more exciting and emotional for everyone.

Bill has written a children’s book, Christmas Is for Giving, which is about making giving at Christmas more important than receiving gifts. In the book, Bill explains to his grandchildren that he asked their parents not to buy a Christmas present for him. Instead he asked them to do something for someone else at Christmas and then write him a letter about it. Those letters have become not only his gift, but the entire family waits for him to read the letters out loud on Christmas morning, and they try to get the old Marine to cry.

To give this book to your family, visit www.christmas-is-for-giving.com. The price is $10, plus $3 for shipping, and Bill will donate $5 for every book sold to the Marine Corps Reserve Toys For Tots program.

The website includes a few of the letters Bill has received, and he encourages everyone to share their letters with him at [email protected]. He will post them on the website.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays!
