Proper transfers and lifting techniques for caregivers

Rayma Scalzo

Our Alzheimer’s/Dementia Caregiver Group would like to invite you to attend our October 21 meeting. We are pleased to have a physical therapist and representative from Grace Home Health Care to show us techniques for transfers and lifting. If your loved one remains at home, it is important to know how to complete this task to avoid hurting yourself. We will also discuss devices that are used to assist with transfers as well as information on the correct way to use canes, walkers, wheelchairs and mechanical lifts.

Grace Home Health Care was recognized and certified in 2010 by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) as one of modern home-health care agencies which are scientifically measured and assessed to have high-quality home-health care services for promoting health and improving the quality of life. Home Health Services being offered by Grace Home Health Care includes nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology, medical social, home health aide.

Respite Care

We may be able to provide free respite care for your loved one if you feel you can’t leave them alone. This would allow you the opportunity and peace of mind to attend the discussion group meeting. If you let us know, we will try to arrange for someone to come to your home during the two hour meeting. For this assistance, we do ask that you RSVP by Wednesday, October 18.

Monthly Breakfast

The caregivers meet for breakfast on the first Saturday of each month at Eagle’s Nest. This gives them an opportunity to get to know each other on a more personal level. Knowing others who are going through the same journey is very beneficial.

Please note: Our events are for Alzheimer’s Dementia caregivers only. For time and location of the monthly meeting or to RSVP for respite care, please contact Rayma at 623-935-1819 or send an email to [email protected].
