The PebbleCreek Pickleball Club winter schedule is blasting ahead.

The January schedule was filled with activities including the super successful 4WinTournament, a mixed doubles event that ran approximately four hours. Forty teams competed in the January 11 competition.

The medalists were as follows:

Gold: Sheri/Dick Burns; Sherry/Tony Gonzales; Linda/Bill Pardue; Jill Lewis/Pat Murphy; Cidnee/Jerry Lusk; Judy/Tom Vincent; Sue/Scott Johnson; Dalonna Cooper/Dennis Carter

Silver: Joyce/John Pihl; Linda/Kerry Krueger; Sue Borgstrom/Art House; Sandy/Mike Crabtree; Monika/Keith Charlesworth; Jo/Larry Dennis; Jackie Armstrong/Gordon Cooper; Mary McConaughey/Dave Henry

The tournament was under the direction of Terry TerHaar and Pat Murphy with a ton of members helping out.

Then on January 13 and 14 one of the top players in the country, Scott Moore, gave pickleball clinics to more than 150 members. Scott, a two time gold winner at the 2014 Nationals, discussed the art of dinking and how to disrupt your opponent’s dinking, types of serves to use, being in the right position on the court at all times, legal and illegal serves and a ton of other information. He also played a demonstration game pointing out the use of different shots.

The Annual Chile Social (the entry fee was cans of food that go to a food bank) was held on January 24 and the club is planning the very popular Valentine Day special social which takes place, you guessed it, on February 14.

Then down the road are the Club Doubles Championships which are on March 25 (women) and 26 (gentlemen).

With having gone from eight to 20 courts, the Executive Committee is actively working at finding the best mix of courts for drop-in play, skill-level round robins, ladders and, of course, reserving courts for recreational play.

A new ball machine has also come into play and there are a myriad of free learning activities.
