PC Singers welcomes new board

PebbleCreek Singers’ newly elected officers will assume their duties on July 1, 2017. Vice President Walt Kalback advances to the office of president and current President Larry Eidt moves to the role of immediate past president. Diane Piehl continues her two-year term as secretary. Newly elected board members are Jerry Drake, vice president and Cliff Mercer, treasurer. Director Gail Kennedy serves on the board also.

Vice President Jerry Drake is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio. Jerry was a music major in college, obtaining his undergraduate degree from Ohio State and his Master’s Degree from VanderCook College of Music in Chicago. He was a music teacher for six years, teaching beginner’s band through high school band as well as directing middle school and high school choirs. Jerry has sung in high school and church choirs and also plays the flute. He retired from the Circle K World Wide Franchise Training Department in 2016. He and his wife Anita have been married 30 years. They moved to PebbleCreek in 2012 and Jerry joined the PebbleCreek Singers in 2016.

Treasurer Cliff Mercer hails from Boston. Majoring in Physics, Cliff received his B.S. from Illinois College and his Master’s Degree from Southern Illinois University. His career took him to Carlisle, Pennsylvania for 20 years and, most recently, Park City, Utah for 20 years, working in the fields of engineering and finance. Cliff was in several musicals in college and played the lead role of Curly in Oklahoma. He also sang in various church choirs and played the trumpet. He and his wife Sara just celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary. They moved to PebbleCreek in 2012 and Cliff joined PebbleCreek Singers in 2016.

After a successful spring concert, the chorus members are enjoying a well-deserved three month break before reconvening on August 14 to begin rehearsals for the Christmas concert.

The PC Singers is currently accepting applications for all voice parts. Anyone interested in auditioning for the chorus may contact Nancy Gustafson at 623-215-3292 or pick up an application form at the club information center (just across from the pro shop) in Eagle’s Nest Clubhouse.
