On a beautiful fall day, in a field of alfalfa several miles south of PebbleCreek, five hunters dressed in their finest, most brilliant orange, set out with a guide and two wonderful hunting dogs. And, just few hours later, emerged with a lot of grins and 20 plump, beautiful pheasants.

PebbleCreek Gun Club vice president Dan Borchers, who organized the event, says he was delighted not only with the success of the hunt, but with the outfitter, Arizona Pheasant and Chukar, a 900-acre hunting preserve near Casa Grande. “It was an easy drive for a great day of hunting, and the guides and the dogs were outstanding,” Dan enthused, “and we’ll be eating well for weeks to come!”

The hunters started at 8 a.m. with a safety review then headed into the fields with their guide and dogs. Dan gave their guide and the dogs a lot of credit for the hunters’ success, but also noted that most of the hunters had spent many hours preparing for the hunt by practicing at the club’s weekly Tuesday trap shoots held at Ben Avery.
