December was a very busy month for members of the Democratic Club!

Our annual Holiday Party on December 10 was hosted by Frankie and Chuck Veltri at their beautifully decorated home with no less than seven Christmas trees! A full capacity crowd of sixty members enjoyed a sit-down catered menu from Famous Dave’s BBQ. Due to the increasing numbers of the Club, next year the affair will be a sit-down dinner to be held in the Chianti Room.

On December 21, twenty-five members, along with a few friends of members, enjoyed dinner together and then traveled to the mystical island of Bali Hai, via the Arizona Broadway Theater performance of the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic musical, South Pacific. We were able to gather some of these theater-goers for a picture following the performance.

March and April will be equally as busy for our members. About two dozen members will be attending the Cirque du Soleil Crystal show on Sunday, March 11 at the Talking Stick Arena in downtown Phoenix.

Crystal is the first-ever experience on ice from Cirque du Soleil. We’re looking forward to seeing world-class ice skaters and acrobats take their new frozen playground by storm as they challenge the laws of gravity with a flurry of unexpected acrobatics.

On March 31, we go back to the Arizona Broadway Theater for dinner and the concert “What a Night! The Jersey Boys Meet Mama Mia.” These two award-winning musicals, Jersey Boys and Mamma Mia, have been seen by over 60 million people, played to sold-out houses around the world and generated over a combined $4 billion in box office revenue.

Our annual Spring Potluck Luncheon will be held on Sunday, April 8 in the Eagle’s Nest Ballroom, where we say, “Adieu, adios, auf wiedersehen, sayonara and shalom!” to our snowbirds and wish everyone a safe and happy summer.

We recently added an additional opportunity to socialize with members and friends. One hour prior to each monthly meeting, we now have a cash-bar happy hour at the bar adjacent to the Chianti Room.

The men in our club meet for breakfast on the second Wednesday of the month, while the women meet for lunch during the month.

Lastly, every Saturday morning, any member who is free for breakfast can join us at Eagle’s Nest Alcove at 9:00 p.m. A table or two are reserved in the alcove adjacent to main dining area. It’s a great time to meet up with new and old members.
