PebbleCreek Community Church (PCCC) held its sixth annual Golf Scramble on Sunday, March 22 at the Palm Valley Golf Club Lakes Course. The weather was picture perfect at tee time for the 37 golfers. Some took advantage of their free bucket of balls to hit the driving range and others loosened up on the putting green. Each golfer was provided with a snack bag of chips, nuts, water, etc. as well as a ticket for a chance to win one of more than 100 gift items that had been donated by local businesses. For those who preferred not to golf, table/board games were available on the club patio where more than 20 additional church members and friends enjoyed themselves all afternoon with games, great conversation, laughs, snacks, iced tea and water.

The Lakes Course at Palm Valley has traditionally been used for PCCC’s annual event because it provides players with a high quality alternative to a longer course. With a par of only 62, play can be completed in much less time, while still providing a significant challenge as the golfers will surely tell you. As the golfers returned to the clubhouse, a delicious buffet was set and ready to go. By the time Pastor Dennis Kizziar gave thanks for our bounty we had 74 people joining us for dinner.

Following dinner the winning golfers were announced: Closest-to-the-Pin on No. 3 was Pat Sherlock, Longest Putt on No. 9 was Tasnim Raza and Longest Drive on No. 18 was Doug McFarland. The Second Place Team winners were Ed Becker, Ken Herman, Bob Fievez and Barbara Hamm. The First Place Team winners were Doug McFarland, John Aycock, Dan Hale and Tasnim Raza. All of these winners were given gift cards to the Palm Valley Pro Shop. Every person in attendance was given a ticket and a chance to win one of the prizes. More than $1,600 in services or products were donated for this event and we cannot thank the local community enough for their support of PCCC. In addition to the prize drawings there was a 50/50 raffle which was won by Dave Modderman and we were able to donate $171 to Agua Fria Food Bank.
