PebbleCreek Softball Players put down their bats and picked up their clubs to compete in their 19th annual (PCSSA) golf outing held at Eagle’s Nest in February. This gave the players the opportunity to hit a little white ball instead of the big yellow ball. Several softball alumni joined our current members, as this tournament is open to anyone who ever played senior softball at PebbleCreek.

Knowing that many players would need a second chance, Mulligans were sold to ease the frustration of at least one bad shot as I’m sure there were some shots that were hit true and other shots, shall we say, would be considered a foul ball.

After an invigorating round of golf, the Eagle’s Nest Ballroom was the location for an Italian buffet. Prizes were awarded to the top three teams in each of the three flights based on the score cards that are turned in. Scorekeeping in golf differs from scorekeeping in softball. In softball there is a scoreboard that tells each player how their team is doing. In golf there is a scorecard that records how a player is doing. It’s often been said that golf scorecards only show the math of golf. I’ve been told that some scorecards had a lot of math.

Overall, the day was great and the players enjoyed a day of friendly competition. Our golf outings don’t just happen, it takes a lot of work. Our outing coordinator, Derry Davison, spends quite a few hours putting these outings together. Thank you Derry, for another great event.

Special thanks to Ronnie Decker and the pro staff for making sure everything went smoothly.

Crystal Thomas and her crew provided a first-class luncheon, ballroom setup and service to allow our members to relax and enjoy the event.

Next year’s tournament is already scheduled for Wednesday, February 26 at Tuscany Falls.
