In the previous issue of the PebbleCreek Post you learned about the history of the softball league here in PebbleCreek. What you probably didn’t realize was that the PebbleCreek Senior Softball Association (PCSSA) holds a draft before each season. The draft is held in one of the clubhouse facilities (Eagle’s Nest or Tuscany Falls). Managers and assistant mangers attend this draft where they pick and choose the players that they hope will make up their championship team.

This year there were 166 players in the draft. Each player was rated and assigned a ranking number prior to the actual draft. The first pick of the draft was determined by the individual ranking number that was assigned to each manager. The lowest ranking manager had first pick followed in order of ranking by the other managers. After each round, each team had a point total based on the player and manager rankings. The team with the lowest point total would pick first. This would hold true until all players were picked and assigned to a team.

Opening day for the Fall/Winter Season was on Saturday, October 28. Watch for the next article in the December issue.
