On February 4, 2020, PCLGA held the Senior/Super Senior Champions Tournament that was played on Tuscany Falls East. The day began with a frost delay, but it turned out to be absolutely beautiful.

Players were divided into three divisions: Super Senior (75+), Senior (65-74), and Junior (Under 65). The game was individual stroke play.

Carolyn Apodaca was the overall Super Senior gross champion with a score of 83. The overall Super Senior net champion was Arlene Engelbert who had a 67 net.

The overall Senior Gross champion was Teresa Christianson. She shot a 79 and won in a sudden death playoff with Peggy Steffan on the first playoff hole. Peggy Steffan was the overall Senior Net champion. She broke 80 for the first time in league play and had a 64 net.

Congratulations to the overall champions! Great play!

Sharon Hadley and Patty Brown, had holes-in-one on hole 13. Super congratulations to both!

In addition to the overall low gross and overall low net winners in the Senior and Super Senior Divisions, payouts were made in all flights to players in first, second, and third place for both gross and net.

Following play, an Italian buffet was served in the Tuscany Ballroom which was elegantly decorated.

Each Super Senior was presented with a gift and a rose and received huge applause from all the players. They were recognized for their support of the PCLGA, their continuing support of women’s golf overall, and their bonds of friendship through the sport of golf.

Glenda Spohr and Nancy Hernandez (co-chairs) and their committee – Nancy Kyle, Jane Wiederhold, and Karen Reuland – did an awesome job of planning the “Young at Heart” tournament. Thank you, ladies, for a job well done!
