On July 9 the Ladies Arizona Summer Survivor Invitational (LASSI) league held the second, two-person best-ball tournament of the season at Copper Canyon Golf Club, Sun City Festival, Buckeye. The event was a full field of 58, two-person teams and the PebbleCreek Ladies Golf Association (PCLGA) was represented by nine teams: Geanie Aldridge/Judi Floyd; Tess Braden/Carol Taylor; Barbara Chilton/Sharon Johnson; Chris Cook/Jean Ostroga; Kathi Curtis/Donna Havener; Kittie Day/Ann Page; Pat DeMatties/Sue White; Donnie Meyers/Cindy Sota and Chanca Morrell/Sally Babbitt.
Congratulations to PCLGA players Chris Cook/Jean Ostroga, who won second place in the A Flight, and Pat DeMatties/Sue White, who won fifth place in the C flight, after a scorecard playoff with Tess Braden/Carol Taylor! Also, Chris Cook and Pat DeMatties won longest putt in their respective flights. Donna Havener reported that it had rained heavily the night before the tournament, which made for a day filled with stifling humidity; however, the course was in great shape and the greens were fast.
There are two remaining LASSI tournaments for the season: August 15, Briarwood Country Club, Sun City West and September 12, Los Caballeros Golf Club, Wickenburg.
