Temperatures were “sizzling” as predicted on Tuesday, August 14, which was the day of the PebbleCreek Ladies Golf Association (PCLGA) annual Summer Sizzler! The event was a huge success thanks to the efforts of co-chairs Layne Sheridan and Teresa Christianson, who were assisted by Major Tournament Directors, Judy Layton and Vicki Norrie. Teresa and Layne send a huge thank you to Sharon Dawe, who volunteered to drive around in her cart to distribute cold towels and popsicles for all the ladies and gave players bottles of water as they came in off the course; what a treat!
Many players dressed and decorated golf carts in the beach/pool theme. Some brought along swim suits and beach towels, so they could head over to the new Oasis pool complex and cool off after golf. The Ramada area provided welcome shade for a delicious lunch and participants took advantage of the pool or just relaxed in lounge chairs. Also, there was a very lively, but friendly game of water volleyball!
This year’s Sizzler had 28 two-person teams and was held on the Falls/Palms courses. The format was a “two-lady, 6-6-6” (six holes better ball, six holes scramble and six holes Chapman). Format winners were Better ball: Barb Economou/Vicki Norrie; Scramble: Mary Falso/Peggy Steffan and Chapman: Karen Uherchik/Diane Faulkner. Flight winners were: Flight 1: 1st Andrea Dilger/Sheri Sears; 2nd Cathryn Weaver/Carolyn Suttles; Flight 2: 1st Kathi Curtis/Donna Havener; 2nd Karen Smith/Ruth Shaffer; Flight 3: 1st Jenna Ridgeway/Linda Sweet; 2nd Tricia Self/Dana Becraft and Flight 4: 1st (tie) Nancy Dusenbery/Renate Lampkin; Judi Floyd/Mary Rollins, and Mary Lou Cralle/Bev Heron. Congratulations to Barbara Economou, who had an eagle on the four-par, hole No. 11, Palms!
