PCLGA honors the 3rd annual International Women’s Day of Golf

The third annual International Women’s Day of Golf was celebrated by 60 PebbleCreek Ladies Golf Association (PCLGA) players on Tuesday, June 5…wearing either red or orange in recognition of this significant, world-wide event. The event is held each June on the same day around the world. In the past three years, thousands of participants from 52 countries have participated. The purpose is to encourage more women and girls new to the sport to play, enjoy the game, learn new life skills and have fun! Venues include public and private golf courses, driving ranges and retail outlets.

PCLGA’s format was individual stroke play for the five flights of players, with first place gross and net winners paid in each flight. The results were Flight 1, Gross: 1st, Liz Michell; 2nd, Ellen Enright. Net: 1st Renee DeLassus; 2nd, Mary Falso. Flight 2, Gross: 1st, Jean Ostroga; 2nd (tie), Cheryl LaMotta, Cathryn Weaver. Net: 1st, Carolyn Suttles; 2nd, Barbara Chilton. Flight 3, Gross: 1st Nancy Moore; 2nd Emma Mosley. Net: lst Carol Taylor, 2nd tie Chris Cook, Trish Wagner. Flight 4, Gross: 1st Jean Goodin; 2nd (tie), Sue White, Trish Watkins. Net: 1st, Tricia Self; 2nd, Judy Layton. Flight 5, Gross: 1st, Carol Adkins; 2nd, tie Susan Harris, Mary Rollins. Net: 1st, three-way tie Becky Deering, Deanna Mendiola, Mary Lou Cralle.

In addition, there were six players who won closest to the hole: No. 4 Sarah Marsh, Carol Adkins; No. 13 Nancy Moore, Geanie Aldridge; and No. 17 Carole Schumacher, Liz Mitchell. Two players won the longest putt on No. 8, Nancy Moore, Carol Langhardt Overall, there were 18 birdies and ten “chip-ins,” plus an eagle and a “hole-in-one” by Nancy Moore, on No. 13! Great playing on a very warm day!
