The PebbleCreek Quilters holiday luncheon was held in the Tuscany Ballroom and fun was had by all who attended. It was a busy afternoon with business. The 2016 Board of Directors was voted in and we enjoyed a baked potato and salad bar. The table centerpieces were made by some of our members and then raffled off to several lucky winners who took them home.
Many of our members were shown appreciation for their dedicated and hard volunteer work during the past year. These members had taught classes, donated food or monies for Agua Fria Food Bank, cut, pieced, quilted and had hand sewn many of our items that were donated to our charities. We really couldn’t do all we accomplished without their help.
The highlight of the luncheon was the long awaited drawing to choose the winning ticket for the 2015 Opportunity Quilt. There was silence and anticipation in the room as the 2014 winner dug into the thousands of tickets to pick out one. The winner is Beverly Mitchell! Beverly was so surprised; she looked around until everyone started clapping and encouraged her to come up to the front. Beverly didn’t disclose how many tickets she purchased throughout the year but couldn’t believe she was actually the lucky winner. Congratulations, Beverly, and have many years of enjoyment with your award winning quilt!
Thank you to everyone who purchased a ticket in 2015. You have generously supported our charitable efforts. You will now have a chance to win our 2016 Opportunity quilt named Desert Star. Stop by the Creative Arts Center on February 6 during Desert Fest as it will be showcased in the lobby.
A special sewing supplies sale will be held in the Diamondback Room on Saturday, February 27 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. We have lovingly named this sale Trash To Treasure where you will be able to find many wonderful money saving deals on fabrics of all sizes, colors and prints, assorted rulers, patterns, threads, books, magazines and maybe even a machine!
