PC Singers prepare Christmas Concert

Donna Swagger

A bit of merriment, a touch of wonder, an abundance of joy and voila, you have the PebbleCreek Singers’ 2016 Christmas Concert! The choristers are busily preparing a musical Christmas package that is filled with a variety of wonderful holiday songs. Director Gail Kennedy revealed the musical repertoire at the first rehearsal on August 8. Smiles of approval from the singers indicated that they were pleased with the selections and eager to get started! Traditional carols, popular secular melodies, novelty tunes, light classical numbers and beautiful sacred songs comprise the entertaining program.

With the arrival of September, it’s time to pick up the pace! Weekly section rehearsals begin each Monday just prior to full rehearsal. Section leaders meet with their respective vocal section, helping members dig in to each piece of music to learn notes, intricate rhythms, difficult passages, timing and dynamics. This “nose to the grindstone” time is invaluable! When the four sections join together later for full-chorus rehearsal with Director Kennedy, they are prepared and ready to tackle the entire song! Additionally, the women and the men rehearse with Director Kennedy on alternate Wednesdays. The Singers will continue this routine for the next three months, diligently practicing until they are concert-ready. Audiences can be assured that the PebbleCreek Singers will present another first-rate performance!

Full-chorus rehearsals are running smoothly in the Tuscany Falls Ballroom and the chorus is adapting well to the new venue. Rehearsals will continue in the ballroom while the theater undergoes a major renovation. The theater is expected to be completed in early November, in time for the Singers Christmas Concert!

PC Players tickets available online

PebbleCreek Players is excited to announce that testing of our new automated ticketing system is now complete. We are proud to be the first of the four performing arts groups in our community to offer such a service.

Two features of this system will be of direct benefit to you, our audience. First, you will no longer have to line up on a Saturday morning or at the kiosk during the week to get your tickets. Using the Internet, you will now be able to pick your performance, select your seats and print your tickets right at home. All the normal in-person sales will still be available as well for those of you who feel a little intimidated by the Internet. The second big change involves how you pay for your tickets. Cash and checks will still be accepted, but now you can use your credit or debit cards (VISA and MasterCard only) both online and in person.

What makes this doubly exciting is that we are implementing this for our fall production of the hilarious comedy Noises Off. Since our theater is under renovation, we have moved to the beautiful Performing Arts Center at Estrella Mountain Community College, a short distance from PebbleCreek at the intersection of Dysart and Thomas Roads. This play is the most challenging work ever undertaken by any PebbleCreek group and to carry it off we have enlisted the help of four college students to fill character roles that could not realistically be portrayed by us old folks. It promises to be a night of side-splitting laughter.

Ticket sales begin at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 17 both online and in person. Because of the theatre closure, the in-person sales will be held in the Eagle’s Nest Ballroom. To purchase tickets online you must go to the PC Players website at pc-players.org. There is no need to sign in to the website for purchasing of tickets. The top article on the home page provides a link to ticket sales. The next age will give you some further directions. From there on it is simply a matter of clicking on links, making your seat selections and providing your payment.

Anyone who has ever purchased something online will find this familiar. Rest assured that this system is completely secure with your information. For those of you who need a little ore guidance, the PCPlayer website will contain a link for complete step-by-step instructions on how to purchase your tickets. A link for a map of the Estrella campus will also be available. Still having problems? You can contact our ticket manager, Jon Lindstrom, at [email protected] or at 623-535-5495 for assistance.
