PC Irish American Club’s scholarship winners

Suzanne Rambach

The PebbleCreek Irish American Club awarded scholarships to three Millennial High School students. Many students were interviewed by the PCIAC Charitable Contributions Committee and after a lot of work and thorough vetting, Dakota Cameron was awarded a $1,000 scholarship and Jacob Cunningham and Andrea Amavisca each received $500 scholarship checks. Charity, Social, and Education are the three pillars of our club and we are proud to support our local students. They attended our club meeting on May 8 with their parents and friends to receive their awards. We thank their school counselor, Ms. Jennifer Grumbling, for assisting the committee again this year.

Dakota is enrolled at Seattle University where she plans to pursue a business degree. Andrea is enrolled in the Barrett Honors College of ASU and plans to study Environmental Engineering. Jacob is enrolled in Estrella Mountain Community College and plans to transfer to ASU to study electrical engineering. Two past scholarship recipients were also present: Melanie Will (2017) and Michila Elkins (2016). We thank the members of the Charitable Contributions Committee: John Pugsley, Tim Coogan (co-chairs) and Mike Harrington, Jim McKenna, Bernie Rayner and Dotty Thomas.

We are growing! We now have 300 members. Several joined the evening of May 8 where we had a club meeting at 7:00 p.m. and a Farewell ‘Till Fall Party at 7:30 p.m. in the TF Chianti Room. There were delicious appetizers, beer, wine and water and snacks for all to enjoy. Michael Littwin, an award-winning singer and song writer, transported us to a quaint Irish pub with his Irish songs and stories.

Mark your calendars for October 9. We are having a Welcome Back Party with food and entertainment to welcome all of our members back to PebbleCreek.
