On March 16, Lynn Warren passed 7,000 career miles in the PebbleCreek Hiking Club, becoming only the third member to reach this milestone. And he is the fastest to accomplish this, doing so in just under seven years with the club (over 1,000 miles a year!). This hike took place in nearby Estrella Foothills Park. The club’s regular season runs from mid-September to the first Friday in May with hikes Monday through Saturday. And while the club does some hikes in the summer, they are not for everyone. For more information about the club please visit our website at pchikers.org.

Thirteen members of the PebbleCreek Hiking Club enjoyed a great hike in the Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area on March 22. This is a great area to hike as there are several very big Saguaros along the trail and there is a riparian area with lots of birds. The hike leader was Doug Jamiolkowski. The club does hikes at three levels (4-5 miles, 6-8 miles and 9-12 miles) and they are as close as Verrado and as far as Prescott and Sedona. Check out our website pchikers.org for more hiking photos and information about the club.

On March 21, sixteen PC hikers enjoyed a close-in hike in convenient Estrella Mountain Regional Park, just a short drive south on Estrella Parkway. Last year, because of more rain, hikers were rewarded with outstanding wildflowers and the group was hoping for a repeat this year but were disappointed since flowers in the park are few and far between because of drought conditions. Regardless, the hikers enjoyed a relaxing 6.7-mile loop on several trails in the park. The regular season ends the first week of May but a few club members will conduct “exploratory” hikes during the summer (they will leave very early to beat the heat); visit the club’s website at PCHIKERS.ORG for more information and pictures.
