Pete Williams is on a roll-—another season, another major milestone. In 2014 he passed the 5,000 mile mark and on July 13, 2015, on an 8.5 mile hike in Black Canyon (near the Rock Springs Café), he passed the 6,000 mile mark, becoming only the second club member to reach this lofty level. To put this into perspective, this would be equivalent to walking from Goodyear to Seattle more than four times. Pete has a real passion for hiking and has been hiking and accumulating miles with the club since 2006 and has contributed to the club in many ways, currently serving as President, “C” Hike Coordinator and primary researcher of new trails. The current hiking season is almost over and the club is actively planning the 2015-2016 season, including many interesting local hikes and overnight trips to Red Rocks near Las Vegas and Canyonlands/Arches National Parks near Moab. The kickoff meeting for the new season is September 17 in Tuscany Falls Ballroom; visit the club’s website at pchikers.org for more information and pictures.
