Pastor Dennis Kissiar retires from PebbleCreek Community Church

Pastor Dennis Kizziar and his wife Joan

Larry Sessoms

Last year at this time, Pastor Dennis advised our congregation that he would like to retire in a year and that he and Joan would then be moving back to their roots in Oregon. The year is up and our PebbleCreek Community Church will celebrate his many gifts to our church and our community at a farewell banquet in our Tuscany Falls Ballroom on November 9. Thank you, Pastor Dennis and Joan, for all you have brought to us!

A few months after Dennis’ graduation from Biola University in 1961, he and Joan were married in Tempe, Arizona and began their life journey together. That journey started in Portland, Oregon, where Dennis finished seminary and Joan taught fourth grade in a public school. Following seminary, they lived and ministered in São Paulo, Brazil; Corvallis, Oregon; Oak Brook, Illinois; Modesto, California; Sisters and Bend, Oregon and, of course, PebbleCreek for the past five years. They have also traveled to countries around the world in ministry.

This past year Pastor Dennis’ work load has included working closely with our Pastor Search Committee in a nationwide search for his replacement. Keep in mind that we are a community church, with no national affiliation and with membership as diverse as the Christian population of our wonderful PebbleCreek community. Our search committee appropriately reflects that diversity. After reviewing a number of applications, the committee is nearing a final recommendation for our congregation.

Please come and join us as our congregation enters a new chapter in its 24-year existence. We meet Sundays at 9:00 a.m., when we turn our Eagle’s Nest Ballroom into a chapel for all. Our services are followed by a time for friendly fellowship with others from within PebbleCreek.
