Opportunity Quilt 2015 was introduced at DesertFest

Irish Stone Creek is the 2015 Opportunity Quilt.

Irish Stone Creek is the 2015 Opportunity Quilt.

PebbleCreek’s inaugural DesertFest was the Premier public introduction of the PebbleCreek Quilters 2015 Opportunity Quilt, Irish Stone Creek. We are so proud of this year’s quilt which was designed by our member Wendy Gilbert. Several years ago Wendy taught a quilting class in another state on the Triple Irish Chain. Rosemary Kurtz took the class from her and then they happened to meet up again at PebbleCreek. Since Rosemary had not finished her quilt, Wendy completed the quilt and our member Barb Maurer has meticulously quilted every square at home on her long arm quilting machine. Barb’s quilting was inspired by Judi Madsen’s book Quilting Wide Open Spaces; AQS publisher. We are so proud of these very talented ladies and are extremely honored that they have allowed us to make this our Opportunity Quilt for 2015. If you are not familiar with our fundraiser, we sell tickets to be entered in the drawing to win this quilt which will be held in December. The proceeds from the ticket sales help us to continue making quilts, breast pillows, walker bags and receiving blankets for the following charities: Southwest Advocacy, New Life Center, Aqua Fria Food Bank, Austin Center for Exceptional Students, West Valley Hospital Partners for Health, PebbleCreek Breast Cancer Support Group, Hospice of the Valley and Ryan’s House. If you would like to support our efforts and have a chance to win this beautiful work of art, tickets are available in Expressions Gallery at Tuscany Creative Art Center. Or in the comfort of your home you may go to www.pebblecreekquilters.org and click on the Sales – Opportunity Quilt page at the top of our website. You will find a PayPal button and we will fill out your tickets, deposit them for the drawing and email you copies for your records. How easy is that? PebbleCreek Quilters thank you for your support. We hope to post a calendar soon of where you may see this beautiful quilt in person.
