Spring ParTee

The Lady Niners hold ParTee Tournaments twice each season—once in the winter and once in the spring. The Spring ParTee is the final event of the season before the snowbirds head out. This year the spring event was planned by Betty Thompson and Kay Herrema with a Mexican theme. Each member invited a guest to play nine holes of golf on Sunday afternoon, April 22. It was a 2:00 shotgun followed by prizes and a Mexican buffet in the Tuscany Falls Ballroom.

Falls course winners were Patti Halbmaier, Jim Halbmaier, Kay Daugherty, Jim Daugherty—first place, Melissa D’Onofrio, Mike D’Onofrio, Bobbie Ence, and Rob Payne—Second Place, and Lorene Greer, Jim Greer, Sue Smith, Steve Smith—third place.

Palms Course winners were Roberta Ginter, Doug Ginter, Sue Honson, Bob Honson—first place; Bonnie Elliot, Rich Elliot, Margo Coughin, Mike Coughlin—second place, Linda Brisnehan, Pat Brisnehan, Pat Kaer, Bjarne Kaer—third place.

Installation of Officers for 2018-2019

On April 24, the new officers for the PCL9GA 2018-2019 season were installed. Each was presented with a flower and words of encouragement from this year’s officers. Newly elected officers are Barb Hockert, president; Norma Guillaume, president elect; Nancy Burton, secretary; and Lorene Greer, treasurer. Their terms begins June 1 and goes through May 31, 2019.

Senior Legacy Tournament

Also on April 24 the winners were announced for the first annual Senior Legacy Tournament. This event took place on two Tuesdays in March and April. All members 75 or older were invited to participate. The winner of the Low Gross Award was Sharon Adamy. The winner of the Low Net Award was Jan Estrada. Awards were also given in two flights. Flight One winners were Lee Miller, Diane Trainor and Liz Fergione. Flight Two winners were Lee Lanan, Bobbie Ence and Janet Jeans. Congratulations, ladies.

Mens/Ladies Niner Mixer

April 19 was the Mens/Ladies Annual Mixer hosted by the Men’s Niners. Golfers from both the Men’s Nine and Ladies Nine Leagues braved a blustery day to compete for prizes in the four-person scramble.

PCL9GA winners on the Falls Course were Maureen Campbell, first; Julie Mock, second and Donna Frole, third.

Winners on the Palms Course were Gail Hock, first; Pat Hallacy, second and Janet Jeans, third.

Winners on the Lakes Course were Carolyn Koberg and Carolyn Nadon, first; Andrea Ruder and Barbara Brace, second and Alberta Hohn and Charlene Jones, third.

Sun City Grand

On May 1, fifty of the Lady Niners went to Sun City Grand to play with the ladies of their nine-hole league in the Sun City Grand Invitational. The format was a 9-hole step aside scramble with players from both leagues in each foursome. It was followed by lunch and prizes. Winners were announced. Front nine winners from PebbleCreek were Jackie Abel and Donna Frole, first; Sue Jaffe and Juli Mock, second and Jean Olerud and Denise McQuaid, third. Back nine winners from PebbleCreek were Nancy Burton and Tina Stepzinski, first; Sue Johnson and Kathy Tobin, second; and Pat West and Roberta Ginter, third.
