Anyone who has been a manager in the PCSSA knows that, without a doubt, the role of the person who manages a team in the league has many important duties to perform.

First of all, in September the league holds its annual draft of players. At that time, the managers select their teams. Then practices are conducted before Opening Day occurs, at which time each team plays their first game.

During the season the managers have to place players in positions where they feel the player will play the best. Also, the batting order has to be constantly changed until the manager determines he has the right player in the correct place in the batting order.

Every season players get hurt, become ill, or are absent for other reasons, so the managers have to get subs from other teams in the league to have a complete team on any given game day. This takes considerable effort, as the subs have to have a corresponding league established numerical ability rating close to the player being subbed.

Managers coach, console, encourage teach and keep a positive attitude at all times, seeing to it that every player receives playing time in every game and making sure that each game is an enjoyable experience for the team.
