Mah Jongg winner: first time is the charm

The eleventh annual PebbleCreek Mahjongg Tournament was held on April 20 in the Tuscany Falls Ballroom. For first time entrant and top winner Janie Meckler, “the first time was the charm.” She won out over 47 other players to take first place, followed by second place winner Barb Chilton and Joann Pagano who took third place. They received $100, $80 and $60 respectively in prize money. Winners were 8th, a tie, Marion Wilson and Carole Escajeda; 7th Toni Beasley; 6th Patty Greene; 4th, a tie, Linda Bennett and Hilary Fiscus; 3rd Joann Pagano; 2nd Barbara Chilton and 1st Janie Meckler

Alex Potapoff once again served as tournament director/arbitrator and rules were based on those of the National Mahjongg League. All rounds were timed and scored. Entrance fees covered the cost of lunch and prize money.
