Thanks for your support

There is so much that LifeLong Learning offers to our PebbleCreek community, and we couldn’t do it without our dedicated volunteers and the generosity of donors in the community, whose gifts help to keep our programs going.

You can support LifeLong Learning without making a direct donation by signing up for Fry’s Community Award Fund, where a portion of every purchase at a Fry’s store comes back to support LifeLong Learning. In addition, you can sign up for the Amazon Smile program, which also gives back a donation for every Amazon purchase. Get more information on both programs by going to our website.

When you plan your community donations, we hope you will consider LifeLong Learning and all the pleasure and education you’ve gained from our programs. Your support keeps our programs affordable and enables us to continue to offer some programs at no-cost to residents. LifeLong Learning is a 501(c)(3), so your monetary donation is tax-deductible. You can donate online at www.lifelonglearningatpc.org/donate or go to the LLL Center.

We thank you for your support and look forward to seeing everyone at some of our upcoming events.

LLL free February programs

This season the free Sunday Series celebrates three diverse cultures through their music, thanks to a generous grant from Robson. The first event in January featured gospel music. On Sunday, February 24 from 2:00-3:30 p.m., come hear Antonio Navarro and his six-piece Mariachi Band in the Chianti Room.

Mariachi music is the sound of Mexico and is the musical accompaniment to the important moments in Mexican life. A Mariachi band, a Mexican musical group, consists of four or more musicians who wear elaborately decorated charro suits. A charro is a Mexican cowboy from the state of Jalisco and the suit consists of a waist-length jacket, a bow tie, fitted pants, short boots and a wide-brimmed sombrero.

The last free TED Talk meeting of the season is February 14 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. in the Palm Room at Eagle’s Nest. The TED Talks team has selected outstanding videos for you to watch and then discuss. Go to TED.com to better understand this interesting organization devoted to spreading ideas. They believe in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and ultimately the world.

PC Reads, a free book discussion group, meets in the LLL Center the first Thursday of every month from 5:00-6:30 p.m. The book for February 7 is An American Marriage: A Novel by Tayari Jones. The Rent Collector by Camron Wright is the book for discussion on March 7.

Each of these events is free but registration is required, beginning 30 days before its date at www.lifelonglearningatpc.org or by going to the LLL Center from 9:00 a.m.–noon, Tuesday to Friday. LLL asks that a non-perishable food item be brought for donation to the St. Mary’s Food Bank if you attend the Sunday Series.
