The PebbleCreek Quilters have been busy all summer making quilts for the many charities we support and on Saturday, November 5 we welcomed Hospice of the Valley’s Surprise campus into our fold. We have donated many quilts to Hospice’s other west valley campuses, but PebbleCreek resident and Hospice volunteer Chuck Patton reached out to our President Linda Labenz to let us know that there is a need of which we were unaware.

Chuck met a group of us at the Diamondback Room in the Creative Arts Center and we shared stories of how each of us in our own way are contributing our time and talent to make our community a better place. Jackie Dronchef, one of our PebbleCreek Quilters, shared her story of making an appliqued quilt for Hospice of the Valley that had stars on one end and houses on the other. Chuck actually remembered that quilt and who received it. Jackie was very touched by the fact her quilt was remembered and that it was cherished as the patient’s family took the quilt home.

Chuck left with five beautiful quilts for hospice patients and their families, bringing the total number of quilts donated to a variety of organizations this year to almost 300.

If you would like to be a part of the wonderful work done for our community by PebbleCreek Quilters, please stop by the Diamondback Room and speak to any quilter.

If you would like to explore volunteer opportunities with Hospice of the Valley, Chuck suggests you call Pat Martinez at 602-539-6900.
