Kumihimo time

Come and learn a new craft at the Creative Arts Center. Kumihimo is an ancient form of braiding developed by the Japanese, that dates as far back as the sixth century. With Western influence, it has evolved today to include beautiful cords used for jewelry, interior décor, and other complementary art forms.

The class is taught by Carol Meier, a PebbleCreek resident who studies the art of kumihimo in Hawaii and Japan. Carol teaches the traditional art form that uses the arudai versus the hand-held foam disc.

Sign up for classes in the Creative Arts Center no later than Oct. 30. Six classes will be offered for a fee of $25 and will be limited to15 students who register and pay. The first class starts on Dec. 6. New students will be notified the first week in November for information on how to get the supplies.
