The PebbleCreek Men’s Golf Association Club Championship was once again won by Jack Schafer. Jack won this championship for a record-setting sixth time with a gross score of 220. The tournament was held on February 8, 14 and 15. The course rotation was Eagle’s Nest, Palms/Lakes and then back to Eagle’s Nest.
Jack’s previous wins were in 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013 and last year 2017.
In 2017 Jack took an 11-shot lead into the final round and coasted to the winner’s circle. This time he found himself two shots behind new PCMGA member Jeff Canfield. Jeff had played a brilliant first round shooting a three-under par 69 and followed up with a second round score of 73. Jack shot 72 in both the first and second rounds. Bill Volm, the 2015 Club Champion, was the nearest competitor to Jeff and Jack.
In the final round, Jeff and Jack both played a lackluster front side shooting 39. Bill, on the other hand, reduced his shot deficit by three as he made nine fours for a score of 36. So, at the turn Jack was still two shots behind Jeff and Bill was two shots behind Jack. Jeff and Bill both had some difficulty on the back nine. Jack had a hiccup on the 11th hole, but played solid after that and tied Jeff for the lead on the 17th hole. On the 18th hole, Jack played two fine shots leaving him a 10-footer for birdie. Jeff hit his approach hole-high but just left of the green. Jeff was unable to get up and down for par and Jack two-putted for the win.

A total of 125 players competed in five separate flights. The Championship Flight played from the Black/Blue mixed tees. There were two flights that played from the Blue tees and two flights that played from the White tees.
