Carolyn Shirley Colton

Mrs. Carolyn Shirley Colton, age 83, died on June 8, 2019, in Goodyear, AZ. She was born on April 21, 1936 in San Diego, CA to Carroll and Shirley Chapman. Carolyn was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She also belonged to the California Teachers Association and was voted Teacher of the Year.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Catherine Ann Colton, son, William Channing Colton and grandson, William Christopher Colton. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Sprague Colton. A memorial service was held on Saturday, July 6, at Christ Presbyterian Church, 925 N. Sarival Avenue, Goodyear, AZ 85338. The family suggests that donations be made to Doctors Without Borders. George H. Hagen

George H. Hagen, age 89 of Goodyear, passed away Apr. 22, 2019. He was born Sept. 6, 1929, in St. Louis, MO. He received his Associate and Bachelor of Science degrees in Business Administration from Washington University – St. Louis. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, George and his lovely wife of 66 years Lori, were married in the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis, known in St. Louis as the “Old Cathedral” by Msgr. Lloyd Sullivan.

After leaving the Navy, George worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in St. Louis for 16 years and was the Communications Workers of America’s Union President for one term. Upon completion of his bachelor’s degree, he worked at Monsanto Chemical, St. Louis, and launched his sales, marketing and management career. In 1973, he began his pharmaceutical marketing career at Lakeside Laboratories, based in Milwaukee. He ended his career with Fusion Systems Corporation, based out of Rockville, MD, as an international sales marketing executive.

Knowledgeable, resourceful and very handy, George and Lori enjoyed building and decorating their homes. He and Lori retired and moved to Arizona in 1989. In 1996 they moved to PebbleCreek and enjoyed living in Unit 18. They loved to entertain and often welcomed friends into their home. They were fond of traveling and especially enjoyed traveling throughout Europe.

George lived a good, principle-centered life. He is survived by his loving wife, Lorraine “Lori” C. Hagen; daughters, Chris Velez (Ralph) and Jill Crompton (David); granddaughters, Anita (Paul) Murray and Liz (Anthony) Flores; grandson, Joel (Katie) Crompton and great-grandchildren, Anthony and Brianna Flores. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and three brothers.

Services were held on Friday, May 3, at the Thompson Funeral Chapel, 926 S. Litchfield Road, Goodyear, AZ 85338. Interment is at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. Condolences for the family may be left at www.ThompsonFuneralChapel.com.

Alice Mary (King) Jackse

Alice Mary (King) Jackse was granted her angel wings on May 24, in Scottsdale. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that she had touched throughout her memorable life. Alice was born on Dec. 18, 1934 in Danville, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Edward Jackse, who passed away in 2006. They were married for 49 long and beautiful years.

She is survived by sons, John Jackse of Plano, TX and Thomas Jackse of Scottsdale as well as daughters-in-law, Juliann Jackse and Tina Jackse.

Alice will be missed by her loving grandchildren Paul, Ryan, Katey, Holli, Drew and Samantha Jackse. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 29, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in her memory in Avondale.
