Highlights from Irish American Club Charity Golf Tournament

Suzanne Rambach, Public Relations Director

The PC Irish American Club wants to thank all of the participants that helped make the tenth annual Charity Golf Tournament a huge success! Through their generosity, our club can have an even more profound effect on our local charities and scholarships. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day! The luck of the Irish was upon us. The morning started with fresh coffee and donuts (donated by Sugar and Spice for five years in a row). Golfers were greeted with smiling and energetic volunteers to help them register, purchase Mulligans and raffle tickets and to bid on the silent auction. This year we offered 12 beautifully prepared baskets with approximate values of $300-$500 each. The participants decided which baskets to place their raffle tickets in and the drawings were held during lunch. Speaking of lunch, the corned beef was delicious! It was accompanied by sauerkraut, rolls, bread and a mixed spring green salad followed by a variety of cakes. The cash bar was stocked with Irish favorites – Jameson, Harps and Guinness to name a few.

We had two charities present at the Tournament this year, Homeless Youth Connection and Mutts on a Mission. They each brought information about how they are helping local children. Both charities are always seeking out more support. To donate to Mutts on a Mission, their website is: MuttsOnaMission.org. The Homeless Youth Connection has a dollar-for-dollar state tax credit reduction if you donate before April 15, 2019. You can donate online at HYCAZ.org.

This is the Irish American Club’s major fundraiser and we appreciate the generosity of our local businesses. In 2018 the club focused on helping local kids. Our club donated a total of $10,000 to The Homeless Youth Connection, Mutts on a Mission (which help grade school children improve their reading skills) the Irish Cultural Center and we awarded three scholarships to deserving Millennium High School seniors. In 2017 our club donated to the Southwest Lending Closet, the New Life Center and awarded two scholarships. Local charities have benefitted from this charitable event since 2015. Please patronize these sponsors and thank them for supporting PebbleCreek and the Irish American Club.
