A patriotic tradition is set to go off in the city of Goodyear – The Star Spangled Fourth of July event with an old fashioned flavor.

This year the city of Goodyear will host its Fourth of July event from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 4 at Goodyear Ballpark, 1933 S. Ballpark Way.

The event will feature a pie and hot dog eating contest, live music by the popular local band, Party Crashers, a corn hole tournament (with awards), a lot of fun and fireworks, of course. Inflatable bounce houses and water slides will be on hand for the kids for a nominal fee.

Admission to the event, which is being held at the ballpark for the seventh year, is free and open to the public. Parking also is free. Thousands are expected to attend the event, so overflow parking is available at nearby Desert Edge High School. A free shuttle service is provided to bring people to the ballpark.

“Just like the Fourth of July events in past years, this year’s event promises to be a lot of fun for people of all ages,” said Debbie Diveney, Supervisor of Business Operations for Goodyear Ballpark. “You bring the family; we’ll do the cooking.”

A barbecue plate of your choice of ¼ chicken, a hamburger or hot dog with beans, potato salad and an ear of corn with a slice of watermelon will be available for $9.
