Goodbye and thank you to founder of Rug Hookers

Dee-Dee Patrick

Priscilla Sharp, the individual who is credited for starting the club here at PebbleCreek, is leaving to return to the Midwest. She will be missed as we might not be a craft club here at PC if it were not for her efforts over ten years ago. Priscilla Sharp, Kathy Garner and Judy Bray are the three women responsible for planting the seed that grew into the burgeoning group we now have. We are ever so grateful that they kept focus on their passion for this artistic craft and went through the effort to make it a vital club in the Creative Arts Center. The group has grown so much that we have difficulty accommodating all the members with their equipment if they all decide to arrive on the same day.

Much of this enthusiasm is due to the leadership provided to the group by Priscilla. She served as president of the club for several years and also taught the beginning craft to PC residents every fall/winter who wanted to learn what it was all about. A social gathering was held at the home of Dee-Dee Patrick in early April to say good-bye and good luck to Priscilla. Food and beverages were plentiful as many members of the Rug Hookers are excellent chefs and bakers. It is a requirement that you love to eat in order to join our club! Warning! You might gain weight being in the rug hooking club.

Priscilla may well be seen around PC in the future as members of our group have suggested she stay as a guest in their homes where we plan to host future workshops.

Stop in and see the hobby being worked. The Rug Hookers meet every Monday afternoon from noon to 4:00 p.m. in the Fiber Arts Room of the Creative Arts Center. Although a much smaller group during the summer months, you will find that their enthusiasm is not diminished as the temperatures rise outside. For further information, contact our current club president, Dee-Dee Patrick, at [email protected] or phone her at 708-494-0008.
