The Central Arizona Golf District (CAGD) opened the 2019 season at Briarwood Country Club in Sun City West on April 22. Five two-person teams participated from the PebbleCreek Ladies Golf Association (PCLGA) – Ellen Enright/Marilyn Reynolds; Linda Thompson/Carol Sanders; Donnie Meyers/Claudia Tiger; Barbara Patrow/Kathy Hubert-Wyss and Sue Harrison/Karin Kasper. Congratulations to Ellen and Marilyn who won second net in the first flight!

As a member of the PCLGA, you are eligible and welcome to join the CAGD and participate in their tournaments. The CAGD organizes up to six tournaments a year at various premier public and private golf courses in the East and West Valley. Tournaments are flighted and are followed by a luncheon and prizes for winners in each flight.

The CAGD is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization that offers women of all skill levels a chance to compete and have fun playing golf. They have more than 1,300 members from all corners of the Greater Phoenix and central Arizona counties.

As a non-profit organization, a substantial percentage of members’ annual dues are donated to local golf-related charities. Each year, the CAGD Executive Committee votes to determine which charities will be selected. The organizations identified generally help local youth get involved with the game of golf and help teach valuable life lessons by teaching the young players golf etiquette and good sportsmanship. The two charities selected for 2019 are the Desert Mashie Scholarship to the Junior Golf Association of Arizona’s Desert Mashie Spring Championship tournament and the Junior Golf Association of Arizona.

This year, two PCLGA members are serving on the CAGD Executive Committee – Carol Sanders, Treasurer and Linda Thompson, Membership Chair. Jane Hee is the PCLGA’s representative to the CAGD. Thank you, ladies, for your contributions!
