Camera Club meetings continue to be conducted via Zoom, in accordance with HOA and CDC guidelines. The March meeting featured an interesting presentation on color calibration for printing. At the April meeting on April 19 at 6:30 p.m., Roger Bunting, club secretary, will present “Introduction to Infrared Photography.” Roger, a retired scientist and engineer, has been an avid photographer since age seven. His grandfather taught him to mix and use photographic solutions in the dirt floor basement of his small town pharmacy as a pre-teen, and he’s been hooked ever since. Today, Roger’s photographic workflow is entirely digital and his wet darkroom skills have been transferred to Adobe products and other platforms. Infrared (IR) photography has long been used as a medium for technical analysis, but is also enjoyed for its artistic freedom in presenting the world with images that are, at the least, surreal. Roger will be talking about pathways that lead to IR images, equipment, and post processing of the images. This will include a starter path using filters on existing equipment, suggestions on evaluating suitable equipment, as well as the convenience of converting an existing camera to shoot only IR.
