Sixteen new concrete benches recently were added to the 16 benches already located at the Bocce Ball Complex at Eagle’s Nest, providing team members with twice as much permanent seating space at each court. Demonstrating how the additional benches can easily accommodate eight players are (left to right): Caroline Ryker, Jan Haley, Joan Bopat, Suzie Twedt, Sharon Ribary, Janis Korba, Christine Nesline and Mary Ann Evans.

It’s December and time for stockings to be hung by the chimney with care while thoughts of sugar plums dance in your head. Hopefully, members of the PebbleCreek Bocce Ball Association Board of Directors will find the time to sit back and enjoy the holiday festivities while they also work at a feverish pace to prepare for the bevy of activities scheduled for January 2017.

Treasurer Mollie McErlean is known for getting her holiday decorations up early because most of her December is spent accepting last minute registrations and finalizing and disseminating the team rosters for the PebbleCreek Bocce Ball’s winter season which begins on Tuesday, January 10, 2017.

With the snowbirds returning, registrations are expected to reach an all-time high, surpassing the fall season’s record-breaking participation of 613 players on 65 teams!

Mail in or drop off registrations with all fees paid will be accepted by the treasurer if received on or before Saturday, December 3 at 16114 West Fairmount Avenue, Goodyear, Arizona 85395. In person registration will take place on Monday, December 5 and Tuesday, December 6 from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the ticket kiosk located in the Eagle’s Next Clubhouse.

The first 2017 meeting of the team captains and co-captains will be held on Friday, January 6 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. in the Chianti Room at the Tuscany Falls Clubhouse. Day and Night League play for the winter 2017 season will begin on Tuesday, January 10. Team members competing in the Wednesday and Friday Day Leagues are reminded that the start time for the first tier is 9:30 a.m. The second tier will begin at 11:30 a.m.

Vice President Bob Labenz reports that plans are being finalized for the Bocce Ball Association’s annual Membership Meeting and Potluck Dinner on Sunday, January 8, 2017, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Eagle’s Nest Ballroom. Highlight of the evening will be the special recognition of the first, second and third place teams and grand champions from all four fall season leagues.

Cheryl Kasselmann, Bocce Association president, invites all participants in both the fall and winter seasons’ Day and Night Leagues to attend. Great prizes have been solicited and donated by each of the fall season teams for the night’s big raffle. There also will be a 50/25/25 drawing.
