The Ceramics Club of PebbleCreek is very fortunate to have Wendy Pomeroy as one of the teachers. Wendylee Pomeroy was born and raised on the big island of Hawaii. She and her late husband Larry lived in Washington State, California and then moved to Arizona. Wendy has three children, five grandchildren, one great grandchild and two dogs. Wendy owned a ceramic shop in Avondale, Arizona, for 25 years. After closing it, still loving ceramics, she did freelance work. Sixteen years ago, Wendy started teaching here at PebbleCreek! She has seen a lot of members come and go and loves to teach a variety of different ceramic techniques. One of my favorite techniques that she teaches is dry brushing; it is gorgeous! She is also a Duncan Certified teacher. Furthering her education with Duncan, she earned the Duncan Shield and their Emerald Pin. She is also Doc Holiday certified.

This past July, Briona Blake, eight years old of Beaverton, Oregon, and the granddaughter of Ann and John Kuck visited PebbleCreek. Part of Briona’s vacation was participating in ceramic classes with Wendy. Briona completed two projects, a snowman for her Mom and a trinket purse for herself. Briona is looking forward to another visit and more classes with Wendy.

Our weather is cooling and snowbirds are returning, which makes this is a great time of year to get to ceramics. Our club will again be participating in the Fall Festival on October 25 in PebbleCreek. (Rainout date: October 26) Many members will be selling their works of art. What a great opportunity to purchase that unique handcrafted gift for someone special during the holiday season.

Hope to see you all in the fall!
