First, there is a correction to the December Post article on page 49 under the heading Save the Date. The theme for AZ Chapter Q’s next Fashion Show will be “The Year of the Woman” rather than what the article states.

Arizona Chapter Q is very pleased to have welcomed two new members into our group on Monday, December 3, 2018. Later, in the meeting another new member was welcomed, Mimi Blythe. December’s meeting completed our addition of new members, including Georgie Wood, Lucille Thomas and Becky Lopez who were welcomed at earlier meetings throughout the year.

Arizona Chapter Q of the National T.T.T. (Tri-T) Society is open to women of PebbleCreek who would like to be part of an organization that uses the funds raised from our Fashion Show and Luncheon to send deserving young girls who have completed fourth grade to a summer camp program.

Our chapter has sent eight young girls fully equipped and clothed to Willow Springs, a Girl Scout Camp located in the pines of Prescott, AZ for the past four years. The plans for this year’s campers have already begun the process of selection as the fourth-grade teachers are currently filling out their recommendations. After the teachers have presented us with their nominations, a committee of our members will make the final determination. When parents have accepted our invitation to send their daughter to camp, the fun really begins with the shopping for equipment that includes sleeping bag, backpack, toiletries, towels and washcloths, etc. and then their clothes. The girls are taken shopping for their camp clothing with the help of our members. Part of the process is to have the parents list sizes for shoes and summer clothing. This is quite the day as we start with lunch, then shopping and a refreshing treat before their parents take them home.

Presently we are working with the staff of Heritage Elementary School located at 125th Ave and Glendale. This staff has worked with us over the past six years actively supporting our camping program. Often some will join us for the different activities that we do with the girls like our end of the summer lunch where we present them with their yearly school supplies for the coming school year.

Please put Saturday, March 9, 2019 on your calendar. Come early to view the beautiful raffle baskets and silent auction items before lunch and afterwards the Fashion Show featuring the 2019 spring fashions from Dillard’s at Arrowhead. The fun starts at 10:30 a.m. in the Chianti Room for preview and then lunch to follow in the Tuscany Falls Ballroom. Tickets are $35 again this year. Tickets go on sale in February at the Eagle’s Nest kiosk.
