Arizona Chapter Q of the National T.T.T. (Time, Talents, and Treasures) Society held a special luncheon with our summer campers on July 13, with a dual purpose. The girls were invited to share their camping experiences with the members gathered at the Golden Corral on Dysart and Van Buren in Avondale where a lunch buffet offered a varied menu of good meals and desserts. As the families gathered with their daughters, staff members from Heritage Elementary School also joined us. This event is held each summer prior to the campers starting their new school year.

At the conclusion of the mealtime, Camp Chair Judy Peterson introduced each of the campers who were able to attend this lunch. As the girls were presented, camp co-chairs, Lucille Thomas and Ellen Stergultz, handed the camper a large bag filled with school supplies for the coming term when the girls would be entering fifth grade. It’s our way of wishing them well following their summer experience of camping in the pines of Prescott at Whispering Pines Girl Scout camp.

Our fundraising through our annual Springtime Fashion Show and Luncheon permits us to allocate the money necessary for their camping expenses, equipment, plus a week’s worth of clothing for the camp experience. Additionally, it has been our added pleasure to be able to have the funds to cover their school supplies for their next year of school.

As we look forward to our annual planning for campers of 2020, we have begun our committee work for the next Fashion Show and Luncheon at our kickoff meeting on Sept. 9.

Save the date of March 14, 2020, for our Fashion Show and Luncheon with the theme of “Garden Party.” The support from our PebbleCreek community, friends, and family has been the basis for our many successful years of sending deserving fourth grade girls to summer camp. This coming season will be our thirteenth year of participation in the National T.T.T. camping program. We are looking forward to many more.

Addendum to last month’s article: each of the past four years, we’ve been able to send eight deserving fourth grade girls to summer camp.
