Rock Me Gently: A Tribute to the Songwriters of the 70s – Aug. 2.

From Jim Croce to Dan Fogelberg and Carol King to James Taylor, Rock Me Gently presents an unforgettable two hours of some of the greatest American music to come from the 1970s. From the end of the 1960s, it became common to divide mainstream rock music into soft and hard rock with both emerging as major genres of popular music. Sedona Bus Trip – Aug. 9.

Travel to Sedona, home to more than 300 artists who draw from the quiet, colorful and spectacular physical environment. The Best of Eastern Canada Trip – Aug. 13 through 20.

ELVIS ’68 Comeback Special concert featuring Robert Shaw – Aug. 16.

On this very special evening, we will pay tribute to The King, as this is the day he passed away at his Memphis home, 42 years ago. This amazing show is based on the famous television special aired by NBC Dec. 3, 1968. Originally titled Singer Presents…Elvis, this show marked Presley’s return to live performances after seven years during which his career was centered in the movie business. Filming took place in June 1968 at NBC’s Burbank Studios. The show consisted of a sit-down section, stand-up numbers and two musicals. The sit-down session showcased Presley in an informal setting, surrounded by fans and a small band. It was the most watched show of the season. Later known as the “Comeback Special,” it re-launched Presley’s singing career and his return to live performances. Musical Instrument Museum and Lunch Bus Trip – Aug. 20.

The Musical Instrument Museum (MIM) displays more than 6,000 instruments, collected from around 200 of the world’s countries and territories. Most displays are enhanced by state-of-the-art audio and video technologies that allow guests to see the instruments, hear their sounds and observe them being played in their original contexts. Colorado Train Adventure – Sept. 7 through 14.

Highlights of this vacation will include the U.S. Air Force Academy, Pike’s Peak Cog Railway, Garden of the Gods, Great Sand Dunes National Park, Royal Gorge Route Railroad, Cumbres Toltec Railroad, Mesa Verde National Park, Durango Silverton Railroad, Colorado National Monument and the Colorado Railroad Museum. An Evening with the Stars in Flagstaff – Sept. 9.

Beat the heat and travel to Flagstaff for an “Evening with the Stars” at Lowell Observatory. The Observatory was established in 1894 by Percival Lowell and since that time, Lowell astronomers discovered Pluto, collected the first evidence of an expanding universe and measured the motions and properties of stars. Aretha: The Queen of Soul Tribute – Sept. 13.

“All hail the Queen!” Aretha Franklin’s iconic career spanned six decades, inspiring and influencing generations of aspiring musicians and vocalists. In her life, she recorded countless classics, garnered 18 Grammy Awards, the Presidential Medal of Freedom and earned the number-one spot on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of Greatest Singers of All Time. TAD Show’s newest production stars the immensely talented Charity Lockhart, accompanied by spectacular vocalists and musicians as they celebrate the legendary life and music of Aretha Franklin! Tickets for the 3:00 p.m. show are on sale now, but the 7:00 p.m. show is sold out.

California Gardens and Wineries Bus Trip – Sept. 17.

Travel to Southern California and experience some of the most tranquil gardens and wineries, including the Huntington Gardens, the Getty and Temecula. Day 1: Depart the Valley and travel to Southern California. Enjoy wine tasting at Calloway in Temecula before checking into the Best Western Plus Carriage Inn. Dinner is on your own. Day 2: After breakfast, included at the hotel, we’ll tour the Huntington Gardens before returning to the hotel for the evening. San Diego Golf Getaway including Torrey Pines – Sept. 24 through 27.

Day 1: Depart the valley and drive to San Diego via motor coach. Lunch is on your own en route. Check into Holiday Inn in Oceanside, CA. Dinner is on your own. Day 2: Complimentary hot continental breakfast included at the hotel. Enjoy a day of golf at Goat Hill Park where you will spend the morning playing 18 holes at one of Bill Murray’s favorite golf courses. Custer State Park Buffalo Roundup Trip – Sept. 25 through 30.

Every fall, park rangers round up some 1,350 head of buffalo for the annual branding, sorting and vaccinating. In addition to the roundup and arts festival, this tour includes scenic mountains and popular attractions including Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Badlands National Park, Wall Drug, the 1880 train and historic Deadwood. California Air and Space Trip – Sept. 26 through 29.

Travel to Southern California and discover some interesting stuff. Discover NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory near Pasadena, and get an inside look at our current space exploration activities. Tour the California Science Center, which includes the Space Shuttle Endeavor along with other space exhibits. Finally, explore the Air Flight Museum at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The museum focuses on commercial aviation, with an emphasis on the evolution of what were once barley and bean fields in 1923 into one of the largest airports in the world. Day 1: Travel to Los Angeles and check into the Best Western Plus. Dinner is on your own this evening at the Universal City Walk. Day 2: Breakfast is included at the hotel. Tour the California Science Center, which includes the Space Shuttle Endeavor, along with all the other center exhibits. Day 3: Breakfast is included at the hotel. This morning, tour the Air Flight Museum at LAX, focusing on commercial aviation and the history of LAX.
