The seven principles of Kwanzaa once again were celebrated here at Eagle’s Nest Clubhouse December 26, 2015-January 1, 2016. There were presentations, films and activities throughout the event. The seven principles of Kwanzaa are December 26-Ujima—Unity; December 27-Kujichagulia—Self Determination; December 28-Ujima—Collective work and Responsibility; December 29-Ujamaa—Cooperative Economics; December 30-Nia—Purpose; December 31-Kuumba—Creativity and January 1-Imani—Faith.

Retired U.S. Army Colonel Joseph Alexander gave a presentation on Kujichagulia—Self Determination on December 27. He reflected on his military career, assignments at the Pentagon and time spent in Germany. Clyde and Daisy facilitated the program for Nia—Purpose on December 30. Clyde gave an outstanding presentation on his tenure and experience in the cabinet of Detroit’s Mayor Coleman Young. Ashley Hardin, Financial Analyst, did an awesome job of explaining and walking the group through the seven principles of a healthy life. The creativity of local artists Taurrie Ferguson, Loretta Pruett and Michael Cunningham were spotlighted on December 31 Kuumba—Creativity.

Loretta Pruett is a PebbleCreek resident. She will be one of many featured artists at the WVAC event Illuminating Joy through Art on February 5-11, 2016 in Surprise.
